Does Donating REALLY Increase Your Wealth? Here’s My Experience

You’ve probably heard this claim a million times—from friends, family, and even your local sheikh. But have you ever stopped to seriously think about it? Can giving away your money actually make you wealthier? It sounds counterintuitive—how can having less lead to more?

Let me share two personal experiences where donating actually increased my wealth.

Experience #1: Stuck in the Mud

At 16 years old, I had no job, no income, and only $80 to my name. I remember staring at my bank account, feeling devastated. I wanted to make more. I needed to make more.

Then, by the grace of Allah, I remembered this verse from the Qur’an:

Without hesitation, I donated more than half of my remaining money—without fear, without second-guessing. Shortly after, a friend introduced me to a business opportunity, and within just two weeks, I had made over $1,000!

This experience proved to me that when you give to those in need—even if it’s your last dollar—Allah will multiply your rizq in ways beyond your imagination.

Experience #2: Donating to Family

When people think of charity, they usually think of donating to the poor. But did you know that giving to family is one of the most rewarding forms of charity in the eyes of Allah?

Allah says in the Qur’an:

When I learned this, I decided to withdraw a good amount of money from my bank account and surprise my mother with it. The joy it brought her was priceless, but what happened next was even more incredible…

Allah SWT blessed my business and multiplied my wealth tremendously—all because I gave to my mother.

The Takeaway

If there’s one lesson I’ve learned, it’s this: Take care of those around you, and Allah will certainly take care of you in ways you never imagined.
