How I Made MY FIRST $1000 Online as a MUSLIM TEENAGER

You saw the thumbnail, and you read the title. Today, I’m sharing how I made my first rack online—all while balancing school. Spoiler: the method I used wasn’t rocket science. In fact, it wasn’t scientific at all! Stick with me, and I’ll walk you through exactly what I did and how you can do it too, Inshallah.

From Watching Gurus to Taking Action

Making money online has always fascinated me. Like many of you, I found myself binge-watching the usual “Make Money Online” gurus—Iman Gadzhi, Luke Belmar, Jordan Welch—you get the gist. While these guys get a lot of criticism for selling courses or what not, they did help me develop the mindset I needed to see the opportunities in the online world. But let’s be real—they weren’t handing out functional step-by-step guides.

So, after hours of videos, research, and knowledge-building, I realized one hard truth: none of this matters unless you take action. That step? It’s the hardest. Watching videos is comfortable. Taking action? It’s terrifying. But it’s the only way forward.

The First Attempt: Drop Shipping

My first foray into online business was through dropshipping. I was hyped—finding products, building a website—I felt like I was on my way to becoming the next big success story. But there was one glaring roadblock: Marketing. Specifically, creating attractive videos to sell my products. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t get it right. Without marketing, I couldn’t even make a single sale.

It was a tough pill to swallow, but failure is part of the journey.

October 2023: The Turning Point

Fast forward to October 2023. One day, a random video popped up on my feed, and I clicked on it. That video was a game-changer. It introduced me to a new business model: Theme Pages. The idea was simple—build a page that posts content in a specific niche and monetize the attention you gather because, let’s face it, attention is the greatest currency in today’s world.

I immediately launched my first theme page on Instagram, posting short motivational videos. (Check it out if you’re curious: @motivationpassage.) And guess what? Within just eight uploads, one of my videos hit 1 million views (now at 3.5M).

From Views to Dollars

That first viral video was a huge win. But then reality hit: 1 million views doesn’t mean 1 million dollars. That’s when I learned about TikTok’s Creator Fund, which pays around $1,000 for every 1 million views. So, I pivoted.

I started a new TikTok theme page in the Islamic niche (I’ll explain why in a future newsletter). I uploaded consistently, adapting and improving every day. Eventually, I hit 10,000 followers, qualifying me for TikTok’s Creator Fund.

The grind paid off. The most I’ve earned from a single video was $276 CAD—for just two hours of work. And with Allah’s help, I finally hit my first $1,000 online. Not only am I making money from home, but I’m also spreading the Deen—a win-win in every sense.
